Blur Between Life And The Internet

Hello friends!

I just looked at my blog and the last time I posted was almost a month ago on November 13. The last time I posted something I really kind of cared about was in October. I used to write all the time and have a hard time figuring out which things were and weren’t share-worthy. I often decided to not really filter myself, and posted everything, which meant you had a few things to read every week.

Lately I’ve had a hard time feeling motivated to post. I have a bunch of things I’d like to write about, but I’m having a few issues. First, I have a problem with women not supporting other women. I will likely write a post about this one day, but I struggle with the fact that not everyone wants the best for others, and that there are people out there who would be absolutely fine hurting me in one way or another. Second, I always want to be 100% authentic and real with y’all. I have a difficult time doing this and also maintaining an amount of anonymity for those in my life who didn’t ask to be written about. I want you all to know that with the beautiful things in life there are still struggles, but I also don’t think the Internet is a productive place for each hurdle life throws at me. Lastly, I have realized that oversharing can help so many people, but it can also cause a lot of pain. I am trying to find a balance of sharing important life lessons and details with you all, but still protecting myself and my loved ones.

Luckily I have some old drafts I am going to work on until I want to start writing again. I really want more than anything to be the open book I love, but I’ve also grown wiser and more jaded with releasing my most inner thoughts to anyone in the world to read. I hope. I can get out of this funk and start writing from my heart again! In the meantime, if you’re still following this little blog, thank you. I hope to start offering more to you again soon.

Love,
Krista

What’s In My [Makeup] Bag?

Okay, so it’s been forever since I told y’all I was moving to cruelty-free beauty products, but I finally feel like I’ve tried enough to actually share some reviews. I have subscribed to a few different beauty boxes — ipsy, Birchbox, and FabFitFun — and am a VIP member at Sephora now that I have been in so many times to switch up my beauty routine.

I decided to do my review in a similar manner some of the subscription boxes do, by showing off one of my favorite makeup bags with 5 products I recommend. The reason I’m linking everything to Sephora’s website is because I joined their beauty program that lets you pay just $10 for free shipping on any order for a year. What?!

A big “Thank You” to my good friend Jenni for the Macy-inspired makeup bag!

Without further ado, here are a few of my “Must Have” cruelty-free staples:

Tarte Lights, Camera, Lashes Mascara
Let me start off by saying I love Tarte cosmetics. Every product I have tried I’ve really enjoyed, but this mascara is thebomb.com. Not only does it give my lashes volume, but it lengthens them and gives them a beautifully full look. I really could not say enough great things about this mascara, and between the cruelty-free testing and incredible product, Tarte has a new lifetime customer.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion
I didn’t know the power of primer until I started using this baby. Currently I am kind of obsessed with bronze and gold eyeshadows, so I use my Naked palette or Pure Cosmetics shadows over the primer to create a fun everyday look. The Urban Decay eyeshadow primer makes these colors so much more pigmented than they would be on your naked eye, and sets a really nice foundation to add eyeliner to if desired.

Edward Bess Deep Shine Lipgloss
Oh my gosh. The way this lipgloss smells combined with its stay-power is amazing. It takes a little bit of getting used to, as it’s a stickier formula than I’m used to, but after just a couple of wears I have become a loyal fan.

Urban Decay 24/7 Glide-on Eye Pencil
It’s safe to say UD is one of my favorite makeup brands, (Along with Tarte and Jane Iredale) and I was so relieved to hear that they are also cruelty-free. My favorite eyeliner color is “Perversion,” as it’s a super-basic black that can go with any kind of look. I would say it’s a bit on the heavier side, though, so use it sparingly!

Zoya Nailpolish
Anyone who knows me will vouch that I always have some sort of fun polish on my nails. Needless to say I was devistated when I found out that OPI does, in fact, test on animals, and that my enormous polish collection had to be done away with. Thankfully, though, my last FabFitFun box had a beautiful subtle pink shade of cruelty-free brand Zoya nailpolish. I am in love with this brand now, and can’t wait to try other colors. It’s really reasonably priced and has incredibly trendy colors. Horray for loving animals and beauty!

What cruelty-free products do you think should be a staple in my beauty bag? I would love more recommendations, so sound off in the comments!

Slow And Steady

I know I mentioned forever ago that I’ll be changing my blog around a lot, but it’s pretty difficult since I have arm problems and can’t sit at my computer very long without having issues. I am still working on getting a new domain, editing the layout, etc. with the help of friends and family, but it’ll be a little while. I am excited to share a lot of new experiences, products, and feelings with y’all!

Now that the dust has settled a little with Robert being back home I will be posting as regularly as I can again. If you haven’t yet, subscribe to get email updates! You get exclusive typos, grammatical mistakes, and sometimes even deleted posts when you get emails of my rough drafts. Somehow I enjoy editing things more once they’ve been published to my site.

Currently I am working on sending out a million Valentines. February is my favorite month because I absolutely love everything about Valentine’s Day. Whether or not I’m single I love seeing other people in love, I love showering my friends and family with gifts and words of affirmation, and I love pink hearts.

These are just a few of the cards I got to mail this year.

In the next few weeks I’m going to be talking a little about the cruelty-free makeup I’ve found (I keep waiting for my voice to get better to make a YouTube video, but I swear this winter has been the death of me!), sharing a few of my favorite products and suggestions for Valentine’s Day presents, updating y’all about what the Patriots did for Robert, and finally, telling you what it was like being very mildly cyberbullied.

One of my favorite character traits is kindness. I’d say my word of 2017 is KIND, but this is actually a word I want to apply to the rest of my life. If nothing else, I would love for people to remember me for being not only “nice,” but kind to everyone I meet. I will be talking a lot about this in the coming weeks, and I hope we can together make the world — including the Internet — a happier and more beautiful place.
